03/03/04 I just returned from the States yesterday, where I was competing in the all
womens photo contest in Aspen. Good news, my photographer-Myriam Hadik and
I won 3 of the 4 categories, Best Powder shot, Best Air and Best Creative
Angle and came 2nd in the Lifestyle. Apsen put on such a great event. The
images will be featured in Skiing magazine in the states next winter.
19/02/04 I returned from doing the Red Bull Hike and Ride. We were located in Davos
for the event and had great snow condiitons.
I teamed up with snowboarder Eva Sandelgard for the contest and our 4 min
movie was based on the James Bond ski chase which worked really well. After
48 hours of filming in Davos we drove back to Zurich, were we met our cutter
to help edit our film for the next 24 hours. The films were shown in a
massive venue in Zurich which held 1000 people. We were competing against 7
other teams and the french team David Vincent and Yannik Amevet won with a
very funny short story. Our film received alot of positve feedback which was
great. Most of the teams were snowboard teams, Gian Simmen and Thomas
Harstad, David Benedek and Christph Weber, Cyril Neri annd Nicolas Vaudroz.
It was an amazing experience to be on the other side of the camera and have
an opportunity to make a short film.
The pictures are now up on the website www.redbull-photofiles.com and also
www.redbullhikeandride.com
I am flying out to Aspen tomorrow with photographer Myriam Hadik, for an
all womens photo contest and will be back in Europe the beginning of March.
12/01/04 Good news, I won the Engadin Freeride contest in St
Mortiz. We had good conditions for the contest, and the venue they choose
had lots of different lines to ski. Sverre Lillequist (SWE) won the mens
skiing, Eric Themel (AUT) won the mens snowboard and Geraldine Fasnacht
(SWI) won the womens snowboard.
I am now staying on in St Moritz for a Volkl photo/ film shoot. We were
out scouting the resort today for some lines that would be good to film.
We may also check out Lenzerheide as there is some great terrain to ski
over there. Lets hope it keeps snowing in Europe!!!
28/10/03 I am now back in chamonix where it has already started snowing.
I had a great winter in Australia, I spent a month at Mount Hotham skiing
lots of fresh powder. It was an awesome season, when the resorts closed
it was still snowing!! The resorts looked so different then from previous
years, as Mount Hotham had a large part of its resort burnt out during the
bush fires last summer which opened up some new lines to ski.
Reflecting on 2003 it has definitely been an awesome year. The highlight
was definitely the win at the World Tour Freeskiing Finals in Les Arcs,
which positioned me 3rd overall on the World Tour. The heli ski trip to
Nepal opened my eyes to the Himalayan mountains and the enormity of what
lies out there.....I look forward to letting you know when the film will
be going to air this winter. It should be good!
I am heading to the Mondial du Ski in Les des Alps and then I will be back
in chamonix waiting for the lifts to open at the end of November. I have
many plans this winter.....fingers crossed for lots of snow!!!
